Pillsbury Pond

This is a nifty little flood control area that was built when the Pillsbury plant was established.  The conditions will change with the area rainfall, but it can be good for waterfowl and shorebirds.

Note that much of the area on the west side is posted.  Birders concerned with birding ethics may want to search for a better place to park.  One possibility is along the access road off of Kautz (last time I was there I didn't see any no parking signs) or in the parking lot for the well building on the northeast corner of the pond.

This area makes a fine extension to a walk along the Prairie Path at the DuPage Airport.

Directions

Take Route 38 west of West Chicago to Kautz and then north.  You'll shortly see the pond the west side of the road as well as the Pillsbury plant.
